Kenny Omega has now commented after officially vacating the Lucha Libre AAA Mega Championship.
Earlier today (November 22), it was reported that Omega is set to hand over the title, after his TripleMania Regia title defence against El Hijo del Vikingo was called off.
AAA’s Dorian Roldán has now confirmed that the title has been vacated, taking to Twitter to state:
Due to injury and surgery issues, @KennyOmegamanX may not be present at #TriplemaniaRegia ; Therefore, as of this moment, the Mega Championship of @luchalibreaaa remains vacant, with @vikingo_aaa as the first challenger; more news soon.

In a video shared to the official AAA Twitter account, Omega claimed that the promotion was stealing the gold from him, arguing that AAA did so because it was the only way to get the title off of him:

With this official announcement, Omega’s reign with the title lasted 765 days, the longest single reign in the championship’s 14 year history.
Omega will be taking time away from the ring to undergo multiple surgeries now that he’s dropped the AEW World Championship to Adam Page.
