WWE Legend Admits He Was ‘Killing Time’ In Previous WWE Role WWE

Hall of Famer Kurt Angle has recalled his time as a WWE producer, admitting that he wasn’t passionate about this role.

Following his in-ring retirement at WrestleMania 35 in April 2019, Angle transitioned from an active wrestler into a WWE producer.

He remained in this backstage position until April 2020, when he was let go by the company.

Speaking on his Kurt Angle Show podcast, Angle admitted that he didn’t put much into the role as he wasn’t passionate about being a producer.

Noting that he was ‘killing time’, Angle said:

“Yes, (Mark Carano) called me. ‘Hey, we’re going to let you go.’ Actually, I wasn’t that into my job. I was a producer. I was killing time.

“I knew that if they were going to do cuts, I would be the first one let go because they were paying me a lot of money, more money than other producers. I knew that if they were going to do cuts and they were going to let go of someone, I’d be the first.

“I didn’t put much into it, I really didn’t. I should have been a lot more passionate about it.

“I’d rather wrestle, but that wasn’t going to happen.”

While Angle hasn’t returned to the ring since stepping away, the popular star has admitted that he’s jealous of Adam Copeland (fka Edge) joining AEW for one reason.
