When Eli Drake signed for NXT and changed his name to LA Knight, many assumed he was an obvious candidate for the main roster.
He can talk, and he can wrestle, so he’s a perfect fit for Raw or SmackDown…but unfortunately it looks like he won’t be using the wrestling skills for a while, as he’s been called up as a manager.
Knight made his main roster debut in a SmackDown dark segment, where he announced he would be the manager of both Mace and Mansoor as part of his “Knight Model Management” faction.
Fightful Select has now confirmed Knight is done with NXT, and will be considered a full-time main roster performer from now on.
Knight spent just over a year in NXT, signing with WWE on February 14, 2021.
While he didn’t win any “official” WWE titles during his time in NXT, he did win the Million Dollar Championship at TakeOver: In Your House, but that was a brief reign before he lost it to Cameron Grimes, who then returned it to Ted DiBiase Sr.
