WWE Raw live results – October 8, 2018

04:09am

That was great.

The aforementioned tension between Braun, Drew and Dolph looked to be getting the better of them, but they managed to recover as the match once again went absolutely insane.

All six men running about like mentalists inside the ring, outside the ring, and eventually it was a Claymore Kick from Drew McIntyre that secured the victory.

With the Shield laid out and the heels having vacated the arena, Ambrose left Rollins and Reigns slightly bemused in the ring as he made quite a swift exit.

A great ending to a great show. That really was one of the best Raws in a very, very long time.

What did you think of Raw? Let us know in the comments below, on Twitter or on Discord.

03:57am

This is quality stuff in the main event.

The heels sustained a period of dominance from the off but a bit of tension between them allowed the Shield to get back into it.

Things then descended into chaos off the hot tag with the Shield members all diving outside the ring to wipe out the competition.

A great pace, the crowd are into it, a good story – a great main event thus far.

03:38am

Paul Heyman’s here…

He says he wants to see some “legalized thuggery” between the Shield and Strowman & pals.

“Legalized thuggery.” Amazing. That is what I’m going to call the wrestling from now.

Heyman masterfully hypes up the Universal Championship match at Crown Jewel, and brings out Brock Lesnar… except no he doesn’t, because obviously Brock’s not going to be there. Silly. You didn’t fall for that did you? I know I didn’t. Possibly.

The Shield vs. Strowman, Ziggler and McIntyre is up next!

03:25am

There’s quite a lot going on here now.

Gable and Roode picked up the win when Gable tagged himself in and landed the Chaos Theory German Suplex on Viktor. Roode looked quite annoyed that Chad had tagged himself when Bobby was clearly on top, but before they could get any further, AOP stormed to the ring and battered everyone in sight.

A satisfying conclusion to a pretty drab few minutes.

03:17am

The CM Punk chants have come out.

That about sums it up so far. Ascension are dominating this one.

03:10am

The Shield has some fighting words for Strowman, Ziggler and McIntyre, who they face again later tonight, highlighting that they’re not just an alliance, they’re a brotherhood.

Up next, it’s Bobby Roode and Chad Gable vs. The Ascension. I’m so excited.

03:07am

Trish calls Alexa short – which seems to be quite the rage in WWE lately – and also insults her mathematical skills.

Mickie then decides she’s going to team with Bliss at Evolution, so Stratus brings out a returning Lita to even the odds!

Two Evolution singles matches have merged into one here, and I’m pretty up for it.

That segment was a little bit cringe, but the outcome is a pretty major one. Lita and Stratus vs. Bliss and Mickie at Evolution.

02:54am

Ember just about beat the ref’s 10 count to win via countout after a pretty dominating performance from Nia.

Okay then.

Nia raises Ember’s hands though, because friends and that, I guess.

Up next, it’s Trish Stratus addressing her Evolution match against Alexa Bliss!

02:50am

Up next, it’s Ember Moon vs. Nia Jax.

For some reason.

02:46am

I was actually right for once!

After Corbin cleans house, the Conquistador – who spent the majority of the match camped on the outside – lands a couple of Germans, an Olympic Slam, and tosses Bazza over the top rope.

After a brief celebration, Kurt Angle reveals himself to a massive reaction from the crowd, and the Olympic gold medalist joins John Cena in the WWE World Cup!

That was boss.

02:40am

Sorry to ruin everyone’s fun but…

I reckon the Conquistador is Kurt Angle…

02:38am

So, for this ‘Global Battle Royal,’ acting Raw GM Baron Corbin as amassed a load of randoms from across the world, inserted himself into the match, so he can go on and win it, and be part of the World Cup.

I actually don’t mind this.

02:36am

It has been made official!

DX vs. Brothers of Destruction at WWE Crown Jewel in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on November 2.

Absolutely insane.

02:31am

It’s getting a bit tense between Ziggler, McIntyre and Strowman.

Ziggler trying to call the shots, McIntyre calling him out for getting pinned at SSD, and Braun screaming at them for bickering. They take on the Shield again later tonight.

Up next, it’s the ‘Global Battle Royal’ to determine the second man that will compete in Crown Jewel‘s WWE World Cup tournament.

02:26am

That was pretty fun for what it was, Jinder and Alicia can’t seem to get on the same page, and Bayley and Bálor pick up the win as the latter lands a Coup de Grace for the 1-2-3.

02:18am

Up next, Finn Bálor and Bayley take on Jinder Mahal and Alicia Fox

First ever Universal Champion former Raw Women’s Champion and vs. former WWE Champion and former Divas Champion.

Let that sink in.

Sadly, this is just an advert for Mixed Match Challenge, and I couldn’t give two hoots unfortunately.

02:10am

That was a pretty good match to be fair.

OH WAIT A MINUTE…

Just as the Bellas and Rousey were celebrating their win, the twins blindside the Raw Women’s Champion and it very much looks like we will be getting our rumored Evolution main event of Nikki vs. Ronda!

The assault goes on for minutes, and this is really the first time we’ve seen Ronda this vulnerable in her WWE career.

Does Nikki stand a chance come the end of this month?

01:59am

The match kicked off rather interestingly with Brie Bella and Liv Morgan going absolutely mental at each other over the concussion incident a couple of weeks ago, which was quite fun. Cole even referenced it on commentary.

Logan tags herself in, gets met by Ronda, and we go into the commercial break with Rousey and the Bellas on top.

01:50am

Elias does his usual stick and points out that the Chicago Cubs won’t be in the World Series, and is – for some reason – cut off by Ronda Rousey to a pretty loud ovation.

Up next, it’s a Super Show-Down rematch as Ronda teams with the Bellas to take on the Riott Squad.

Will we see some shenanigans between Nikki and Ronda to set up a rumored Raw Women’s Title match at Evolution at the end of this month?

01:45am

Finn Bálor and Bayley vs. Jinder Mahal and Alicia Fox is set for later tonight. YAY!

Their backstage interview is interrupted by Lio Rush and Bobby Lashley, because of course it is.

Up next, ELIAS!

01:40am

It has just been announced that John Cena will be a part of the WWE World Cup at Crown Jewel, and tonight Raw will hold a ‘Global Battle Royal’ to decide the second qualifier.

Big Show vs. Randy Orton and Samoa Joe vs. Jeff Hardy are set for tomorrow night on SmackDown Live as the next qualifying matches.

01:33am

Has he shut up yet?

I think so…

That was cool at first but got very annoying very quickly.

Lashley dispatches of KO off a Lio distraction and is now launching a post-match assault on Owens’ leg.

Rush has turned Lashley heel and… I think I like it? Less of the shouting through matches and, yeah, I can get behind this. That wasn’t a bad match at all, just would have been better without the unnecessary headache I now have.

01:27am

This is a weird turn of events.

The Chicago crowd took it upon themselves to cheer for the “heel” Kevin Owens, which I suppose we probably could have expected.

What seems a bit odd though, is that Lio Rush has a live mic and is actively embracing this and encouraging the crowd to boo Lashley. Or at least that’s what I think he’s trying to do… It’s hard to tell with Lio whether he’s being intentionally irritating or if that’s just how he is.

Into the first commercial break in this one, and the crowd are firmly behind KO.

01:18am

If only Undertaker had Twitter so he could accept the challenge without even having to get out of bed…

Anyway, after that epic opening, we’ve got Bobby Lashley vs. Kevin Owens coming up next.

DX are bloody back lads!

01:14am

ARE YOU READY?!

D-Generation X is ready!

Triple H and Shawn Michaels have laid down the challenge – DX vs. Brothers of Destruction at WWE Crown Jewel on November 2.

Now I guess we have to wait for ‘Taker and Kane to accept, and then we’re all set for a tag team bout of epic proportions in Saudi Arabia.

They’ve even got fresh DX merch, that’s how you know they’re legit.

01:05am

Raw opens with the winner of the Super Show-Down main event, Triple H – who for some reason reverted back to his King of Kings theme today – along with his bezzie mate, Shawn Michaels.

Despite Trips’ win on Saturday, the pair got battered by the Brothers of Destruction to close the show.

Will Michaels announce that he is coming out of retirement to take on ‘Taker and Kane at Crown Jewel?
