A new report has revealed a major change to the WWE SmackDown commentary team starting on the New Year’s Revolution special.
In 2023, WWE made the decision to make yet another change to the broadcast teams for both Raw and SmackDown.
This change saw the SmackDown duo of Michael Cole and Wade Barrett move to the Monday Night Raw commentary table.
Meanwhile, the Raw broadcast team of Corey Graves and Kevin Patrick teamed up with Cole for the new SmackDown commentary team. This was seen as a move to establish Michael Cole as the voice of the company.
Dave Scherer of PWInsider reported earlier this week that Cole was being removed from the SmackDown broadcast team and would exclusively be on the call on Raw starting in 2024.
PWInsider provided an update, confirming that tonight’s January 5 New Year’s Revolution edition of SmackDown will have Corey Graves and Kevin Patrick as the commentary duo.
It remains to be seen if this will be a permanent move moving forward at the time of this writing.
WrestleTalk will provide further updates on the SmackDown commentary team when they become available.
