Following the recent batch of WWE cuts over the last couple of months, it’s now being reported that “major names” are set to be released.
Fightful Select reports that more cuts could start as soon as this week, but there’s no word on who might be included.
The phrasing “major names” could suggest the cuts will include in-ring talent, but that much hasn’t been confirmed or denied.
It’s important to note the specific phrasing was “major names that were being considered”, so it’s not definite that they’ll be let go.
The report notes that there’s an “ongoing list” of people to release, but WWE often changes its mind about some of them at the last minute.
In April, WWE released several popular main roster wrestlers including Samoa Joe, Mickie James and the IIconics.
May’s releases included some NXT talents, most notably the controversial Drake Wuertz and Velveteen Dream, as well as notable staff members such as Josiah Williams and Tom Phillips.
WrestleTalk.com will of course keep you updated with any news as it comes to light.
