With Mick Foley now All Elite, an update has emerged on the former WWE star’s status for AEW Redemption in July courtesy of Tony Khan.

Mick Foley made his AEW debut as co-host of the Double or Nothing Buy-In show on YouTube ahead of the May 24 pay-per-view.

With AEW Redemption confirmed to be taking place in July, Tony Khan has revealed the likelihood of Foley appearing in Montreal, Quebec.

Speaking to the Toronto Sun, Khan stated that there was a “good chance” that Foley could be making an appearance at CentreBell, the home of AEW Redemption, saying:

“There’s a good chance Mick could come. He’s doing a lot of the AEW events, and I’m sure he’s going to want to be there.

“I can’t say 100% for certain, but I think there’s a very high likelihood that Mick will be attending and hosting the event in Montreal.”

Sharing his thoughts on Foley, Kahn was effusive in his praise of the legendary star, stating:

“I’m a huge fan of Mick. I’ve grown up watching him.

“Cactus Jack was one of my favourite villains in my childhood, and I’m really excited to have Cactus Jack coming back to TBS now as part of AEW with Mick Foley joining the team.”

The former WWE legend cut ties with the company over its relationship with the current Trump regime, with his contract originally set to expire in June.

The Upside Of Mick Foley

During the AEW Double or Nothing Buy In, Mick Foley came face-to-face in the ring with MJF, who would go on to face Darby Allin for the World Championship, recapturing the title and keeping his hair in the main event of the pay-per-view itself.

While MJF would belittle Foley, along with the fans and Allin, it was an indication of what the former WWE star has to offer in AEW. Hearing the fans go from vocally booing MJF to being silent as Foley began to speak, then cheering and hanging on every word, was an indication of the love of the legend.

Listening to Foley speak, praising the career of Allin and sharing an insight into what he’s seen of the now former AEW World Champion, the fans were captivated by what they were hearing, as he hyped up the main event for All In. It’s an emotion born not of expectation but of adoration, not dampened when MJF decided to kick the legend between the legs.

Foley may not have competed since January 2012 at WWE Royal Rumble, but looking at him in the AEW ring, it surely brings questions of whether he could follow other “retired” names, having one more run and getting the final match that the star deserves.
