WWE/AEW
Mick Foley’s AEW debut has been confirmed for this weekend’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view following his WWE legends contract expiring.
Back in December, WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley announced that he would be cutting ties with the company at the end of his legends contract, which was set to expire in June.
Foley’s departure came due to the company’s relationship with the current Trump regime following President’s Trump’s comments following the passing of actor Rob Reiner.
After Foley announced his cutting ties with WWE, there was reportedly a lot of interest from AEW about a potential appearance from Foley in the company, and his debut for AEW has now been confirmed.
Mick Foley To Host AEW Double Or Nothing Buy In
Taking to social media, Tony Khan confirmed that Mrs Foley’s Baby Boy will return to TBS, where he previously competed in WCW as Cactus Jack, at this Sunday’s AEW Double or Nothing pay-per-view event.
Foley will be one of the new co-hosts for the show’s Buy In pre-show alongside Renee Paquette.
Tony tweeted:
Before #AEWDoN, watch the The Buy In FREE before the ppv THIS SUNDAY!
Your new co-hosts are @ReneePaquette & Mick Foley! Foley’s coming back to TBS, where he ran wild as Cactus Jack!
Don’t miss his first night in AEW on Sunday + see you for Wednesday Night #AEWDynamite TONIGHT!
More Former WWE Stars To Debut For AEW Soon?
With Mick Foley’s AEW debut appearance now confirmed, he may not be the only former WWE star we see show up in AEW in the coming months as more contracts and non-compete clauses expire.
WWE recently held it’s latest round of talent releases, with 25 confirmed names having been released from the company, some of whom would be great additions to AEW television.
The most obvious names from the group that will likely land in AEW are both the New Day and Motor City Machine Guns, two of the greatest teams of all time, which would add to an already stacked tag team division including the Young Bucks, FTR, Cope & Cage, The Hurt Syndicate and more.
There are also a number of top women’s talent that would add a boost to AEW’s women’s roster, namely Kairi Sane, Alba Fyre (Kay Lee Ray) and Dakota Kai (Charlie), who were all let go from WWE in the past year.
