MJF has commented on AEW talents “using” the promotion to get back to WWE, specifically naming Aleister Black.

Black was released by WWE in 2021 and joined AEW shortly after, staying with the promotion until 2025 when he returned to WWE.

About a year later, Black and his wife Zelina Vega were among the annual mass WWE releases post-WrestleMania.

On the Ariel Helwani Show today, MJF commented on talents who “use” AEW as a platform to get back to WWE, saying:

“I think it’s pretty obvious (the biggest offender) is Malakai (Aleister) Black. I don’t know the guy on a personal level.

“Do I think he’s a bad guy? No. Do I think he was a mark for wanting to have his ‘Mania moment’, yeah, and there were a couple of guys like that, and they got weeded out.

“Then they went over there and some found out the grass isn’t greener. And some of them did, for them the grass was greener, but I’d say a majority that were like ‘I’m gonna use AEW to go back to WWE’, I think you’re gonna see a lot of those guys ask for a 50% pay cut from the office, or just get released.

“It’s unfortunate because if you show up to our company and work hard, there’s really no need to burn bridges.

“I’m not s**tting on him, I’m just simply telling you what I was told by a majority of the locker room about this specific individual.

“So as a team captain, and a leader, and someone that has been part of this company since day one, I don’t want to deal with guys that don’t want to be team players. F**k off, go elsewhere. Or, f**king prove me wrong. I would love to be proved wrong.”

MJF’s Current AEW Contract Status

Also in the interview, MJF commented on his contract status with AEW, saying:

“I can’t tell you when we’re getting it, but there’s going to be another one, and I’m going to be very young.

“Hypothetically speaking if I was a free agent I would be genuinely the hottest free agent of all time.

“Who’s to say? What I will say, I’ll be pretty f**king young. But as we’ve discussed, I’ve discussed where my thought process is right now, and I’m focused on All Elite Wrestling and building my legacy in All Elite Wrestling.

“They do (love MJF in WWE).”
