AEW Redemption has been announced for July 26 at CentreBell in Montreal, Quebec, adding a new pay-per-view to the calendar.

A trademark application was filed for the term ‘AEW Redemption‘ back in April of this year, indicating that a new event may be in the pipeline.

The event has now been confirmed, with AEW sharing the following on Twitter:

“MONTREAL, As announced by the Toronto Sun, AEW is returning to Canada this Summer with a BRAND NEW PPV: #AEWRedemption!

“This inaugural event is scheduled to take place on Sunday, July 26th at the @centrebell in Montreal, Quebec.”

Commenting on the announcement of the new event, Tony Khan told the Toronto Sun:

“Montreal’s one of the greatest wrestling cities in the world.

“There’s such a rich history of professional wrestling. This will be a special event. It’s the first-ever AEW Redemption, and it’s also the first-ever AEW pay-per-view in Montreal.”

Khan would also note that he’d had plans to run a pay-per-view in Montreal for years, calling the crowds “so fantastic” when AEW has run shows there previously.

The Months Ahead For AEW

With 2025 seeing ten pay-per-views on the AEW calendar, July saw All In at Globe Life Field in Arlington Texas, with this year’s event taking place in August over in London, England.

The upcoming calendar for AEW sees two confirmed pay-per-views, with June 28 seeing a return for Forbidden Door in San Jose, California, followed by the aforementioned All In.

Now the gap between Forbidden Door and All In has been filled by AEW Redemption, this gives ample opportunity to heighten the stakes for the Wembley Stadium pay-per-view which only has the AEW World Championship and Women’s World Championship matches currently confirmed.

For those two matches, the challengers will be decided at Forbidden Door, through the winners of the respective Owen Hart Cup finals. As for who walks in as champions, Double or Nothing saw MJF recapture the AEW World Championship, while Thekla retained the Women’s World Championship.

There’s plenty of time for a change at the top with both championships, although whether either will be dethroned at Forbidden Door or Redemption, particularly with the prestige of All In and the anticipated fervor of a UK crowd, remains to be seen.

As for WWE, with June 27 seeing Night of Champions and August kicking off with SummerSlam, Saturday Night’s Main Event takes place on July 18, with the special once again airing on Peacock in the United States.
