Jon Moxley has defeated Juice Robinson to win the IWGP United States Championship at the Best of the Super Juniors Finals.
The match was Moxley’s debut match with New Japan Pro Wrestling. He had been revealed as the mysterious Death Rider who had challenged former-champion Juice Robinson in a series of vignettes. This was Moxley’s first match since leaving WWE.
Robinson had been champion since defeating Cody at Wrestle Kingdom 13 on January 4th. He had most recently successfully defended the title against Chase Owens at the New Japan Cup Finals. This was his second reign with the title.
Jon Moxley is now the fifth different man to hold the IWGP United States Championship. It has been rumoured that Moxley will be competing in this year’s G1 Climax. As a result of this win, that rumour is looking more and more likely.
