A new championship is set to be introduced at this weekend’s WWE SummerSlam 2026 premium live event in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

SummerSlam takes place across two nights on August 1 and August 2, with the World Heavyweight Championship match between Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins headlining night two in the overall main event of the weekend.

The PLE will air on ESPN Unlimited in the US, as has been the case for all WWE PLEs since Wrestlepalooza in September 2025.

A new addition coming at SummerSlam has now been confirmed, as ESPN has announced the introduction of the ESPN Moment of the Night Championship.

The announcement states:

ESPN will introduce a custom ESPN championship title as part of its new “Moment of the Night” recognition, celebrating the most impactful performance, storyline or match moment from each WWE Premium Live Event. The title will also be incorporated into fan-facing content, creator integrations and on-site activations throughout SummerSlam weekend.

In a separate release, ESPN wrote:

The Freeze Tour is one of several fan experiences ESPN has planned for SummerSlam week, alongside the return of the Top Rope Leap activation and the introduction of a new Moment of the Night championship title that will recognize standout performances and moments from WWE Premium Live Events.

The Freeze Tour references the Danhausen themed ice cream truck doing the rounds in Minneapolis.

ESPN also shared an image of the new title belt, as you can see below:

Potential Moment Of The Night Champions At WWE SummerSlam 2026

WWE SummerSlam will seemingly see two Moment of the Night Champions crowned – one for each night of the event.

For night one, a good bet could be Oba Femi picking up the win against Brock Lesnar in their deciding Hell in a Cell match, with their record tied at 1-1 coming into it after their matches at WrestleMania and Clash in Italy.

Assuming Femi does beat Lesnar, which is what SHOULD happen, WWE and ESPN should want to make it as big of a deal as possible and giving Femi the new title belt could be a way to do just that.

IYO SKY potentially winning the Women’s World Championship from Liv Morgan would be a deserving winner as well if that title change takes place.
