New Sources Reportedly Shed Light On Rumored Thunder Rosa AEW Backstage Issues AEW

The backstage issues in All Elite Wrestling have become a rather large talking point recently, from the issues between CM Punk and Adam Page to the Eddie Kingston and Sammy Guevara situation.

The hottest talking point over the past few days has been regarding AEW Women’s World Champion Thunder Rosa, who announced on this week’s AEW Dynamite that she was injured, leading to an interim AEW Women’s World Champion being crowned at All Out in a four-way between Britt Baker, Jamie Hayter, Hikaru Shida and Toni Storm.

Rumours began swirling that Rosa was not actually injured, and was being sent away while the issues regarding her backstage cooled down. Rosa appeared on Busted Open Radio and denied these rumours, confirming that she was dealing with a back injury.

In a new article for Fanbyte, David Bixenspan reached out to multiple sources who have worked with Rosa in AEW, in an attempt to work out what is going on with the champion.

On the reports of Rosa ‘hiding in the bathroom’ after she broke Jamie Hayter’s nose in their title match, two sources noted that ‘hiding in the bathroom’ may have been a figure of speech, but Rosa was indeed nowhere to be found following the match, with one noting that she ‘sprinted’ from the ring after the bout.

The same source notes that Rosa was told of the injury when she emerged, and did try to apologise, only to lock herself in the bathroom subsequently, potentially leading to the two stories being mixed up.

On the idea of Rosa’s habits being intentional, the sources provided mixed responses, even from some of her detractors.

One AEW opponent of Rosa claimed that she is ‘simply badly trained and ‘never improved her fundamentals, but also believed some incidents could not be an accident. One source who worked with Rosa in a behind-the-scenes role in Lucha Underground disagreed with the claim, saying that ‘nobody can say she doesn’t have fundamentals’.

The same AEW opponent also believed that, when Rosa messes up a spot in a match and the match goes south, that it usually ‘undermines’ her opponent, specifically claiming that Rosa has a hesitance to feed opponents offence or bump for them.

Another opponent of Rosa defended her, claiming that Rosa ‘definitely has a tendency to be snug’, but they’ve never felt it was ‘reckless or too much’, adding that Rosa immediately apologised any time it has come across as such.

The article goes into more detail around Rosa’s backstage attitude towards unsigned talent on AEW Dark and Dark: Elevation, with one extra claiming that Rosa ‘berated’ her and accusing her of being poorly trained. An AEW contracted wrestler also recalled hearing Rosa yelling at another extra so loudly that it could be heard from down the hall.

Other extras, however, noted that they had nothing but positive interactions with Rosa, with one extra adding:

“When I was backstage at AEW she was actually one of the few that sat down with me and a couple of my friends to just chat about the business. Nothing but positive interactions with her.”

All of this seems to back up what was stated in a recent Fightful Select report, which was that people in the locker room pretty are divided in their opinions of Thunder Rosa.
