The new ring name for Nikki Blackheart following her WWE NXT debut has now seemingly been confirmed via the company.
At the end of this week’s WWE NXT show, recent WWE signing Nikki Blackheart would make her debut on the show, attacking Tatum Paxley following her main event match with Kelani Jordan.
Blackheart had previously competed in a dark match under her real name ‘Martinez’, which was seemingly a placeholder name for when her official name was announced.
WWE Seemingly Confirms Reina Volcan As Nikki Blackheart’s New Ring Name
WWE recently filed the trademark for the name ‘Reina Volcan’ among other ring names last month, with reports coming out following her debut that the name was set to be used by Blackheart in NXT.
While it is always possible trademarked names end up being changed and go unused in the company, such as the recently trademarked ‘Nox Raijin’ ring name for EVIL, which went unused as he was instead named ‘Naraku‘, as well as WWE trademarking ‘Caesar Sikoa’ for Jacob Fatu before he debuted under his real name, it seems that is not the case with Reina Volcan.
While Blackheart was not named on the broadcast with any specific name, the video of her debut from NXT on WWE.com uses the name ‘Reina Volcan’ in the video url, while the video itself simply refers to her as ‘NXT’s newest star’.
It’s worth noting that the URL does erroneously say she attacked Kendal Grey, which is not true, as she instead attacked Tatum Paxley, so the use of the name could always end up being an error, though it seems more likely that was simply a mistake.
Reina Volcan’s Potential On WWE NXT
While the NXT women’s division remains stacked with talent, the division is also still in a rebuilding phase following the recent main roster call ups of Fatal Influence, Sol Ruca, Blake Monroe and others.
With names like Tatum Paxley, Lola Vice and Kelani Jordan all also likely to move up to the main roster by the end of the year, there are spots opening up at the top of the NXT women’s division that could allow newer names like Reina Volcan, Lizzy Rain and Myka Lockwood to climb up the card.
With Kendal Grey now the new NXT Women’s Champion, the new era of NXT’s women’s division is now seemingly upon us.
