The number of WWE employees who were laid off following the merger with Endeavor/UFC to form TKO reportedly reached over 100.
Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics has confirmed that WWE President and TKO Board of Directors member Nick Khan has sent a message to employees informing them that today’s layoffs are now complete.
The message included the following:
“Thank you for your patience and understanding today. All individuals impacted by today’s workforce reductions have now been notified. We thank all of these colleagues for their contributions throughout the years and wish them the best.”
There will be an in-person meeting for all remaining WWE employees based out of Stamford at WWE HQ on Tuesday, September 19.
As noted, PWInsider reported that the number of those laid off today was over 100.
Providing further insight, PWInsider reports that some divisions within WWE were “absolutely ripped apart” today.
Specifically, the Insights and Analytics team started today with 20 team members, and now has only three left.
The Marketing, Graphic Design, and Live Events departments also had departures.
There were no talent/performer layoffs today – the focus was staff members/employees.
We send our best wishes to any WWE personnel who received unfortunate news today.
