Paul Wight Says AEW Star Used To Be His ‘Favorite Kid’, But Now Needs A ‘Punch In The Face’ AEW

AEW’s Paul Wight has reflected on a current star’s path from once being his “favorite kid” to now needing a “punch in the face”.

Ahead of the Gunns’ match against the Hardys on this week’s AEW Dynamite, Wight uploaded a picture of himself with Matt Hardy from back during their time together in WWE with the caption:

Been great friends a long time.

This drew the ire of Austin Gunn who responded with an angry threat towards both Hardy and Wight, saying:

good, cause I’m gonna beat your friends ass just like when we hit you up side the head with that chair

To which Wight responded with a sad reflection on how his opinion of Austin has gone downhill as he has grown older, tweeting:

At one time you were literally my favorite kid to be around.

I wish I had a son like you. . Funny charming kind. Dude… as an adult you need a punch in the face.

Sorry #toughlove. Bring your note pad. @MATTHARDYBRAND will take you to school.

Sadly for Wight, Hardy would not manage to secure some justice for his disrespectful remarks, with the Hardys falling short for the first time as a tandem in AEW.

The Gunns’ win was marred by an interference from Bullet Club Gold’s Jay White and Juice Robinson, who repaid the favor after the Gunns helped White defeat Ricky Starks on the June 7 edition of Dynamite.

This was then used to set up a huge eight-man tag match on this week’s Collision (June 24) with the Gunns, White and Robinson against FTR, Ricky Starks and CM Punk.

Speaking of CM Punk, the recently returning star has officially received an opponent for June 25’s Forbidden Door pay-per-view, with the former AEW World Champion facing off against former IWGP Heavyweight Champion Satoshi Kojima.

The match will also be a first round contest in this year’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament. Kojima has now given his first comments on the match – to find out what he had to say, click here.
