The real reason WWE replaced Bayley in her scheduled match at WrestleMania 41 night two has been revealed.
Bayley was set to team with Lyra Valkyria to challenge for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship against current champions Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez.
However, during the Countdown show for night one today, WWE ran an angle with Bayley being attacked backstage.
As Morgan and Rodriguez denied being the attackers, Adam Pearce declared that this means Bayley is ruled out of the match.
Thus, he gave Lyra Valkyria 24 hours to find herself a new tag team partner for the match tomorrow night, and the match will still go ahead.
In an update from PWInsider Elite, this angle and Bayley’s removal was not due to a legitimate injury and has a been planned storyline for weeks.
There was reportedly some sympathy in the locker room towards Bayley from fellow talent when they found out.
Valkyria’s partner will likely only be officially revealed tomorrow, but an obvious choice would be a returning Becky Lynch who is in Las Vegas and has history with Valkyria and Morgan.
Bayley is effectively the third removal from the WrestleMania 41 card in addition to Kevin Owens and Rey Mysterio. However, unlike Bayley, their removals were unplanned and due to legitimate injuries.
While Owens’ replacement for a match against Randy Orton hasn’t been confirmed yet, we do know that El Grande Americano’s opponent will now be Rey Fenix instead of Mysterio.
