A released WWE star has released a vignette and confirmed their new ring name following their official free agency
Back in April, WWE held it’s latest round of talent releases, with over 20 confirmed names released from the company.
Yesterday, 90 days had officially passed since the releases took place, with all the released names now officially free agents, able to sign wherever they want.
Ahead of his free agency, Santos Escobar, who was among those released back in April, took to social media with a message to Paul Levesque and Nick Khan.
Santos Escobar Is Now Romeo Malverde
Taking to social media today, Santos shared a new vignette which showed him with a coffin officially ‘burying’ the character of Santos Escobar.
Santos would also confirm his new ring name on social media, with his new ring name confirmed as ‘Romeo Malverde‘.
Escobar had previously competed as El Hijo del Fantasma and King Cuerno prior to signing with WWE, with him using the Hijo del Fantasma name for his first few months in WWE.
Where Will Released WWE Stars End Up?
With over 20 wrestlers now hitting the free agent market, with more set to join soon as the New Day, Sheamus and more become free agents, speculation will emerge on where they will land next.
AEW President Tony Khan recently said he was paying attention to the free agent market, with many of the belief that at least the New Day and Motor City Machine Guns will end up in AEW.
Kairi Sane was potentially the most surprising name among the releases in April, and while she would also make for a great addition to AEW’s roster, she will likely return to Japan to work for Stardom, Marigold or as a freelancer similar to Sareee.
TNA recently released a number of talents, freeing up space on their roster for some potential big name arrivals, with the former Wyatt Sicks members, Aleister Black and Zelina Vega (Xelina) likely additions to their roster.
Nikki Cross, now once again going by Nikki Storm, has already returned to the ring for OTT in Ireland, with her and her husband Big Damo (Killian Dain) recently becoming the co-owners of British independent promotion Progress Wrestling.
It will be interesting to see these names pop up in the wrestling world over the next few weeks.
