New AEW signing Believes Their Role Has Been Undervalued In The Past AEW

New AEW signing Renee Paquette has opened up about how she felt her role as a backstage interviewer could sometimes be “undervalued”.

Paquette made her AEW debut on the October 12 episode of AEW Dynamite in Toronto, where she interviewed Christian Cage ahead of Luchasaurus’ match with Jungle Boy Jack Perry.

She later appeared throughout the show conducting backstage interviews.

While speaking on the latest episode of her podcast The Sessions, Paquette spoke about her experiences with WWE:

“I always think the interviewer role in professional wrestling has been very… I guess undervalued might be the word.

“Because a lot of times they’re supposed to be invisible, so to speak, in the sense the way the referee is. You’re not selling tickets. You’re not the big character.

“People aren’t coming to see you. That’s always been the vibe. ‘Don’t say anything. Don’t react to anything.’ And then you do end up with people who end up being like a mic stand. That’s how it always has been.”

Paquette also said that she had to fight for small things in WWE like showing subtle reactions or letting her personality come through in her performance.

Paquette has previously spoken about the possibility of working with her husband, AEW World Champion Jon Moxley, at some point in the future.
