Report: Top AEW Star Injured Ahead Of Double Or Nothing

At AEW’s Double or Nothing show in just over three weeks, we will see Pentagon Jr. and Fenix of the Lucha Bros take on the Young Bucks’ Nick and Matt Jackson for the AAA World Tag Team Championships.

However, it is being reported in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Pentagon Jr. was injured at Impact’s TV tapings on Monday in Toronto. Per Dave Meltzer, the former Impact World Champion was hurt in a three-way match also featuring new Impact signee Michael Elgin, and fellow former World Champion Johnny Impact.

Pentagon was injured after a botched hurricanrana to the apron from Impact. It was reported by those in attendance that the luchador was hurt and needed assistance getting to the back. He was not present in the match after the spot, and has been seen with his leg taped since then.

People were worried that Penta had done some serious damage and his place at Double or Nothing would be in question. However, early reports suggest that although he couldn’t put weight on his leg at the time, he has just stretched a muscle. It should be noted that Pentagon was already feeling better the following day. Dave Meltzer did add that he is lucky not to have seriously damaged his neck in the botched spot.
