ROH Announces Return Of Survival Of The Fittest Tournament

ROH has announced the return of the Survival Of The Fittest tournament, previously won by the likes of Daniel Bryan and Adam Cole.

ROH’s Survival of the Fittest tournament last took place in 2018. The competition will air on ROH TV next month, with the winner receiving a shot at the ROH World Championship.

This tournament recently won a poll, when ROH fans were asked which past event they’d like to see return in 2021.

ROH noted the following:

You asked for the Survival of the Fittest tournament to come back and the ROH Board of Directors listened. The tournament returns in June on ROH TV.

Originating in 2004 and last held in 2018, the tournament is composed of a series of qualifying matches, with the winners meeting in a multi-man elimination match to determine the overall winner. The lone survivor will be rewarded with a future shot at the ROH World Championship.

Past winners of Survival of the Fittest include Bryan Danielson, Tyler Black, Jay Lethal and Adam Cole.

Survival of the Fittest was the overwhelming winner of a poll on the ROH The Experience Facebook page that asked which of ROH’s annual events fans would most like to see return in 2021.

The tournament debuted in 2004, with Daniel Bryan triumphing over Austin Aries, Colt Cabana, Homicide, Mark Briscoe and Samoa Joe in the final match.

The most recent edition of the tournament was won by Marty Scrull.  Seth Rollins, Damian Priest, Jay Lethal, Bobby Fish and Roderick Strong have all previously won the tournament.

There is a lot of speculation surrounding Daniel Bryan’s future, following his WWE contract expiring. It was recently reported WWE are ready to feature Bryan in a big match at SummerSlam, if he re-signs.
