Ruby Soho Says She ‘Has More Years Behind Her Than Ahead’ AEW

Ruby Soho made her AEW debut back at last year’s All Out pay-per-view, where she served as the joker in the Women’s Casino Battle Royal, which she went on to win.

The match was Ruby’s first since she was released from WWE back in June of that year after a four year stint on the main roster. In that time, Ruby was sidelined for 10 months with an injury, where she learned that she had been wrestling with two torn labrums for a decade.

Ruby recently spoke in a Q&A with GalaxyCon, where she spoke about how she has thought about her life after wrestling more in recent years, admitting that she has ‘more years behind her than ahead of her’.

She said:

“These last couple years are the first years that I have, not like thought about retiring anytime soon or anything, but it’s been about 12 years that I’ve been doing this and I feel it a lot more. It takes a lot more for me to recover from matches than it used to. After each one, I’m hurting a little bit more. It’s just gotten me to start thinking about life after wrestling, which before, I had blinders on, ‘this is what I’m doing.’ I’m not necessarily preparing for it, but I also want to know my interests outside of this. This will still always be the driving force behind everything that I’m doing right now and I love it more than anything and I’m going to keep doing it as long as my body will allow me, but I’m held together with tooth picks and bubble gum at this point [laughs]. I think I have more years behind me than ahead of me, but I’m going to do this for as long as I can.”

Ruby’s WWE release was recently joked about by SmackDown star Shotzi on Twitter when taking shots at SmackDown Women’s Champion Liv Morgan, leading to a match between the two on SmackDown.

Ruby and Ortiz set up an upcoming encounter with Sammy Guevara and Tay Melo on this week’s episode of AEW Rampage.
