Popular Star Shares Honest Thoughts On Changing Roles & WWE To AEW Move WWE/AEW

Samoa Joe has commented on his current position in AEW and ROH, believing that he’s currently very ‘career calm’.

The past few years of Samoa Joe’s wrestling career have seen him perform many roles.

After suffering an injury in early 2020, Joe transitioned into a commentary role, joining the WWE Raw announce team prior to his WWE release in April 2021.

The star was brought back to WWE on the NXT brand in June as an onscreen enforcer for William Regal. He returned to the ring that August to win the NXT Championship, before relinquishing the gold ahead of the NXT 2.0 reboot that September.

Joe then transitioned into a backstage coaching role, which he remained in until he was let go by WWE in January.

The wrestling veteran returned to ROH at the April 1 Supercard of Honor event, before Tony Khan announced that Joe was All Elite.

In an interview with DAZN, Samoa Joe shared his honest thoughts on his recent role changes, noting:

“I’d love to say it was a wild ride or unexpected (last couple years of his career) but really, I mean for me at least and how many places I’ve worked and things that I’ve seen, it was funny.

“It was a very, very, I guess, chaotic as far as me working in a million different places but for me personally, it was probably the most career calm I’ve been in the midst of the storm if anything.

“I think a lot of people thought, oh man, it must be crazy and nuts but during the whole process, there was always a lot of offers and a lot of other things to fill my time.

“So, like I said, I think when it comes to how many times I was in and out of WWE, the transfer to AEW, really, I’m just now kind of settling in and kind of realizing what a journey it’s been because it was from top recruiter at WWE to television show with Peacock to AEW and now I’m finally kind of getting to settle in and kind of realize it’s been kind of a crazy summer and year in general.”

Samoa Joe currently holds both the ROH TV Championship and the AEW TNT Title.

The ‘King of Television’ most recently wrestled at ROH Final Battle, defending his ROH TV gold against Juice Robinson.
