Late last year, reports began to emerge that tennis giant Serena Williams was is talks to transition into the world of professional wrestling and join WWE. Since then, little has been made public in terms of how or even if these talks are developing.
As recently reported by the reliable Twitter account Slice Wrestling, however, conversations between Williams and WWE are continuing to progress with Stephanie McMahon leading the charge to finalize a deal.

Like Ronda Rousey in 2018, Serena Williams would be an astronomical signing for the company’s women’s division and would once again put Stephanie McMahon on the map outside of the wrestling bubble. It would also undoubtedly bring a lot more eyes to the promotion.
There are concerns with this, however, as unlike Rousey, Williams does not have a background in combat sports. Due to her star power, she would almost certainly be thrown into the main roster as an elite level player. In order for this to work then, becoming a technically sound wrestler is a must and it will need to happen fast.
If she doesn’t adapt in time for her debut – in a world where the iconic tennis legend Serena Williams actually signs with WWE and becomes a wrestler at the age of 37, what the hell am I writing about – fans of the sport will immediately take offense and turn on her quicker than they do to literally anyone stood opposite Becky Lynch at the moment.
That said, who wouldn’t want to see this happen just for the sheer absurdity of it all?
