There has been a major update in the story of Cody Rhodes and his potential return to WWE.

According to a new report from Cassidy Haynes at BodySlam.net, the return may not be happening at all.

While talking to industry sources regarding the AEW aquisition of ROH, an interesting tidbit regarding Cody Rhodes emerged.

While the departures of Brandi and Cody Rhodes were quoted as being “very much real life and was not a work,” they were also informed fascinatingly regarding the ongoing discussions that had been reportedly occurring between Cody Rhodes and WWE, “those conversations have since fizzled out.”

This would certainly mark a shocking change from the past narrative that Cody would be imminently arriving in WWE, poised for a major push. Various hints at the possible impending arrival of Cody Rhodes have continued to pop up across WWE programming as well as heavily hinted at on social media.

In another turn of events, one source even went so far as to say there is hope that Cody could be brought back into the fold at AEW in light of the ROH acquisition to serve in a new role as ROH will reportedly be utilized at least in part as a ‘developmental’ system for All Elite Wrestling.
