A pair of SmackDown stablemates are set to face off head to head on next week’s edition of WWE SmackDown (July 28).
Find out who won the big Fatal Four Way match to kick off tonight’s WWE SmackDown and determine who moved one step closer to a United States Championship match.
In the first match of the night, LA Knight, Cameron Grimes, Sheamus and Rey Mysterio had a fatal four way match to see who would go on to face Santos Escobar for the title shot at the US Championship.
After an enjoyable match that the Orlando crowd was very much actively involved in (clearly behind LA Knight to the point they even booed Sheamus!) in the end, it would not prove to be the fan favorite’s night.
In the final third of the match, Rey Mysterio hit a 619 on both Sheamus and Cameron Grimes and made the cover on Grimes, but Austin Theory pulled him off the pin.
That initiated a Santos Escobar run-out with Escobar attacking Theory, and as the pair brawled away, the action picked back up in the ring.
After Knight, Sheamus and Grimes then all his their finishing moves, Mysterio returned to the ring and took out Grimes, picking up the pinfall victory to move on to a big match on next week’s SmackDown with an unlikely opponent.
Next week (July 28) in the finals of the United States Championship invitational, Rey Mysterio will face off against his protégé and fellow LWO member, Santos Escobar.
The winner of that match will go on to get a title shot at Austin Theory for the WWE United States Championship.
