Top Star Says Victory Road Match Is One Of IMPACT’s Biggest Of The Year IMPACT Wrestling

A top star says Victory Road match is one of IMPACT’s biggest of the year.

At Slammiversary, Josh Alexander returned to IMPACT Wrestling after a few months away with an injury to confront IMPACT World Champion Alex Shelley.

The two men went on to team up with Chris Sabin and KUSHIDA to face Bully Ray, Brian Myers, Lio Rush and Moose at IMPACT Emergence the following month where Steve Maclin made his return.

After attacking PCO for Bully Ray, Maclin brawled with Alexander and attacked his previous injured bicep. This has now set the stage for Maclin and Alexander to face at Victory Road on Friday, September 9.

In a new interview with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, Maclin expressed his excitement for this showdown with Josh Alexander. He said:

“It’s one of those things where I think, even when it was supposed to happen at Rebellion, we knew what we were getting into and it’s a program I’m looking forward to, for however long it does last.”

“But for me, the way I feel, and I’m pretty sure Josh feels the same way if I was to ask him or if you were to ask him, we are the two guys at IMPACT Wrestling.”

“If you look at the male side of things, it’s me and Josh. We’re the top two guys. That’s also my opinion just because I feel like I’ve worked to that.”

“Title or not in this match, I think this is the biggest match on the card and I think this is one of the biggest matches of the year for IMPACT Wrestling. That also puts a lot of pressure on me to deliver. Same with Josh,”

Steve Maclin was originally scheduled to challenge Josh Alexander for the IMPACT World Title at Rebellion in April before suffering a bicep injury that forced him to relinquish the title. Maclin went on to defeat KUSHIDA to become champion.
