An update has emerged on The Rock’s status for WrestleMania 41, amid uncertainty about his next WWE appearance.
Following WrestleMania 41, The Rock teased a match against Cody Rhodes while announcing that he’d be stepping away for a while.
After lots of speculation about The Rock’s next move in WWE, the Final Boss appeared in the final moments of October’s Bad Blood premium live event to stare down Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes, who had just defeated Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu.
Uncertainty surrounding The Rock’s status for WrestleMania 41 in April 2025 was fuelled by Dave Meltzer reporting in October that The Rock had given his word to WWE that he’d be unable to wrestle at WrestleMania 41.
While The Rock did initially dispute this report, A new Fightful Select report has shared an update on the situation, following Sean Ross Sapp stating during the Fightful post-WWE Raw show that he doesn’t believe The Rock will be in action at WrestleMania, based on things he’d heard.
Fightful noted that following Meltzer’s report, people within WWE pushed back on the idea that The Rock had informed WWE he wouldn’t be available, but “numerous” confirmed that there are creative plans being put in motion by WWE on the assumption that The Rock will not be working WrestleMania. It was noted that this is under the notion that anything is possible and subject to change.
Per the report, sources stated that The Rock’s appearance in the closing moments of Bad Blood was just to get him on screen, as WWE reportedly didn’t have a storyline they were furthering with this appearance.
Fightful also reports that Cody Rhodes and The Rock “filmed something” at the Moana 2 premiere, with no more context than that given to them.
WrestleMania 41 will take place on April 19 and 20, 2025 at Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium.
We will continue to provide updates on The Rock’s WWE status as they become available.
