Creative Bankruptcy
The past few weeks of SmackDown have been tough to watch. With a needless pay-per-view to fill before WrestleMania which comes almost two months after the Royal Rumble, the blue brand has been forced to pad out its storylines and angles, slowing things right down into a rinse and repeat holding pattern.
It’s not unfair to say that the viewer could have comfortably skipped the past month of SmackDown and missed almost nothing. With another two weeks remaining until Fastlane there will continue to be a lot of wheel spinning going on until it is out of the way.
WWE will be hoping that SmackDown’s worrying recent weekly ratings slide caused by this creative bankruptcy will be stemmed by the charge towards WrestleMania throughout March.
