It appears another match is set for G1 Supercard. On the Ring of Honor 17th Anniversary show, ROH announced that ROH TV Champion Jeff Cobb had challenged NEVER Openweight Champion Will Ospreay to a title vs. title match. The announcement was made after Cobb successfully defended his title against Shane Taylor.
Ospreay had pinned Cobb in a tag team match at NJPW/ROH Honor Rising on February 23rd. This will be the second title vs. title match on the G1 Supercard show.
The match will likely not be made official until Ospreay is eliminated from the New Japan Cup. As the winner of the New Japan Cup is set to receive an IWGP Heavyweight Championship match against Jay White at G1 Supercard, Ospreay would have to be eliminated to face Cobb. Ospreay is currently scheduled to face Kazuchika Okada in the quarterfinals of the tournament.
The updated card for G1 Supercard is as follows:
- IWGP Heavyweight Championship Match: Jay White (c) vs. TBD (New Japan Cup Winner)
- ROH World Championship Match: Jay Lethal (c) vs. Marty Scurll
- IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship Match: Taiji Ishimori (c) vs. Dragon Lee vs. Bandido
- IWGP Tag Team Championship & ROH World Tag Team Championship Match: Guerrillas of Destiny (c) vs. The Briscoes (c)
- NEVER Openweight Championship & ROH TV Championship Match: Will Ospreay (c) vs. Jeff Cobb (c)
- Honor Rumble
