Tony Khan has addressed the ongoing absence of a star who hasn’t been seen in AEW since September 2023, despite hype videos for a return.
Scorpio Sky was last seen at the September 16, 2023 episode of AEW Collision, losing to Andrade El Idolo (who would subsequently return to WWE).
With Sky having previously stated that he thinks someone in AEW has issues with him, Tony Khan has now addressed the star’s 20-month absence.
Speaking during the AEW Double or Nothing Media Scrum, Tony Khan revealed details of talks with Scorpio Sky, saying:
“I like Scorpio Sky, it’s interesting Scorpio Sky’s name came up recently, you mentioned he was looking to come back and I had had talks with Scorpio Sky about different ideas and things we could do.
“In greater detail, Scorpio Sky’s somebody who’s been here from day one and (who) I have a lot of respect for, I really like, and I saw he said that and I actually had talked to Scorpio Sky about doing something and we ended up going with something in a different direction.
“It’s kind of a long story but it would make a lot of sense in context but maybe not now at this time…”

While Khan wouldn’t elaborate on the ‘long story’ in question, he did would provide a bit more insight into the differences in vision that he and the AEW star had, stating:
“…I had an idea for Scorpio Sky that I think was a good idea and we talked about it and I think it didn’t work out for reasons between us, but also it’s totally a legit thing and I’m fine with it and I would like to use him for a different idea when the time’s right.”

Sky had previously sidelined through injury, with videos hyping a return airing on AEW television in May 2024.
The hype packages wouldn’t amount to an on-screen return for the absent star, although he has continued to perform on the independent scene.
At the time of writing, plans for Scorpio Sky are not yet known, although WrestleTalk will provide details as they emerge.
