Tony Khan has named a similarity he has noticed between AEW and WWE since Triple H took over WWE creative.
Triple H became the Head of Creative in late July, following Vince McMahon’s retirement. The Game was recently elevated to ‘Chief Content Officer’.
In an interview with NBC Chicago, Khan noted that he believes that WWE and AEW will now have a similar philosophy when recruiting performers. Discussing the competition, Khan said:
“Well, it’s interesting. I do think probably in terms of the two companies having a more similar philosophy about signing talent, I do think our philosophies are probably closer about who we would want to sign. So, for free agency, it could be probably a more competitive market in that sense.
“There’s definitely a lot of competition. I don’t think we’re best friends or anything like that, and again people in the wrestling business not liking each other, but competing is probably a good thing.”
WWE has now confirmed that Shawn Michaels is now the Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative, and will oversee the expansion of NXT under the new WWE regime.
With Triple H’s role change, former NFL Las Vegas Raiders president Dan Ventrelle will now assume the role of EVP, Talent.
