Top AEW Star Wishes CM Punk’s Run Turned Out Differently AEW

CM Punk’s contracts with All Elite Wrestling were terminated with cause back on September 2, just three months after his return to the company.

Punk’s termination came following the investigation into the backstage incident at AEW All In at Wembley Stadium.

Punk was a part of many memorable promo segments and feuds during his time in the company, including with Eddie Kingston, culminating in a match between the two at Full Gear in 2021.

Speaking to Adrian Hernandez, Kingston was asked if he feels bad that verbiage used in that segment is brought up now following Punk’s departure from the company.

Kingston said that he doesn’t feel bad, but he does wish Punk’s run ended a little differently.

He said:

“No (I don’t feel bad when people bring up my promo on CM Punk from 11/5/21 AEW Rampage). No, I’m doing my job. Then that’s how I felt. I didn’t know what anyone else in the locker room felt. I didn’t care, it’s how I felt, I didn’t want him there. Me and Punk don’t like each other and that’s fine. You’re not gonna like everybody you work with.

“Do I wish he was still in AEW and I wish it worked out differently? Yeah, because he helped the company. But, other than that, I don’t give a f*ck what he does, you know what I mean? (Kingston laughed) Because me and him never got along anyway. We don’t have to be best friends to fight each other. It makes it better when we’re not best friends, you know, when we have to fight each other. I don’t wish him bad but I don’t wish him good either because I don’t give a f*ck. That’s it.”

Kingston currently reigns as the ROH World and NJPW STRONG Openweight Champions, defeating Claudio Castagnoli for the ROH World Championship at AEW Grand Slam.

There has been speculation about Punk potentially returning to WWE at Survivor Series in Chicago next month.
