A new report has provided a backstage update on Cody Rhodes vs. Brock Lesnar match at WWE Backlash.
At WWE Backlash, Cody Rhodes pulled off an upset victory over Brock Lesnar in a physical, bloody battle.
The main event encounter featured Lesnar being busted open hard way on the exposed turnbuckle before the ending of the bout.
Fightful Select (subscription required) provided an update, noting that the blood in the match was planned beforehand. WWE sources at least claimed that things went the way they were supposed to.
Despite some rumors to the contrary, Rhodes was never scheduled to be squashed at the event.
There were also some questions from fans and critics about the decision for Cody vs. Brock to headline the show. The report notes that there were discussions of Bad Bunny and Damian Priest headlining the show instead.
