A shocking WWE departure took place today, when it was revealed that WWE Senior Vice President of Talent Operations & Strategy James Kimball had been terminated by the company.
The termination came due to what was referred to as an ‘HR violation’, though the exact violation was not specified.
In an update from Fightful Select (subscription required), it was noted that ‘HR violation’ is a fairly broad term, and that it could mean that nobody else was directly affected. Fightful did note that wasn’t confirmed, other than that HR violation could refer to a number of possible things.
Several WWE stars, as well as some UFC fighters, reached out to Fightful, stating that they were surprised by Kimball’s termination.
Kimball was somebody who was well known within UFC circles for his decade of work, with one wrestler also saying that at one point Kimball looked like he would be a major name associated with WWE for years, if not decades to come.
One WWE talent said they were shocked that Kimball had been let go, while other talent had inquired about the details regarding his departure, as Fightful had heard Kimball had worked closely with Triple H during his tenure.
Kimball even spoke to free agent talent fairly recently about potentially coming into the company.
Fightful also noted that Kimball’s termination was not a situation of Vince McMahon making a firing upon his return to the company.
