Wade Barrett Thinks NXT Star Could Headline WrestleMania

Following NXT TakeOver, Wade Barrett has praised a top star, stating he has the potential to become a WrestleMania main-eventer.

At NXT TakeOver: In Your House, LA Knight defeated Cameron Grimes in a ladder match to become the Million Dollar Champion. He is the fifth competitor ever to hold the title.

Speaking with WWE India, Barrett noted that La Knight was the perfect choice to continue Ted DiBiase’s legacy. Stating that Knight has the potential to headline WrestleMania, Barrett said:

“So somebody I’m really excited by at the moment is a relative newcomer to NXT and it’s LA Knight. I thought his performance in the ladder match at NXT TakeOver: In Your House was incredible. Obviously, I have a certain amount of childhood memories related to The Million Dollar Man and The Million Dollar Championship.

“So to see such a great, historic, prestigious championship back in the world of NXT is fantastic and for it to be around the waist of LA Knight, to me, is just superb. He is the ideal person to continue the legacy of The Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase and he might even go one further. Ted DiBiase never main evented a WrestleMania, I think LA Knight can certainly do that.”

Barrett corrected himself on Twitter:

“There must have been a glitch on the phone line. What I actually said was “DiBiase never WON in the main event at Wrestlemania.” (I wouldn’t lie about this)”

On this week’s episode of NXT, LA Knight turned on Ted DiBiase. Also on the show, Samoa Joe returned to the brand as William Regal’s enforcer.

In the aftermath of NXT TakeOver, Tuesday’s show saw an increase in viewership.
