WWE star Becky Lynch has given advice to young female wrestlers on how to make it as a wrestler in North America.
Becky Lynch signed with WWE back in 2014, becoming the first Irish born female WWE star in the company’s history.
Becky had a career on the independent circuit prior to signing with NXT, which included working for promotions such as Shimmer before she initially stepped away from the industry.
Becky Lynch Advises Young Wrestlers To Get International Reps
Speaking at Bayley’s Lodestone event over WrestleMania 42 weekend, Becky was asked by Australian wrestler Charli Evans for her advice on how to make it as an international star in America.
Becky advised the students to continue getting reps in wherever they can, such as in Japan or Mexico, and that wrestling in America isn’t ‘the be all end all’.
She said:
“I did what you’re doing, and it was just coming over here and trying to get bookings and hope nobody would go through my luggage.
“But I do think the travelling, whether it’s coming here or going to Japan, or Canada, or Europe, I think that is the best way to do it is getting out of your bubble and make sure you’re networking and getting reps, meeting people, doing the work.
“It’s a different time now, but we had MySpace back then. It was putting a match up on MySpace, and getting someone to send you the video tapes you might be able to send back to the promotor, but it’s doing what you’re doing, coming out here, meeting people, networking, making sure you’re booked in different promotions.
“I don’t know how to get the Visa thing, especially over in America right now. It’s a little tricky. But this isn’t the only place you can wrestle, and thankfully there’s great promotions for women in Japan and England and all over the world, so keep doing it.
“Also, America’s not the be all end all of wrestling. There is Japan, there is Mexico, get those reps there. This, it’s bad right now, it’s not gonna last forever, it is going to change. Hopefully in the next couple of years it’s gonna change, so if you can get those reps; Mexico, Japan while you can and take those risks, there’s a whole world of wrestling beyond just America.”

Becky Lynch Says Character Shifts In WWE Come Because She ‘Gets Bored’
Becky was later asked about her character evolution in WWE, and how she comes up with her varying characters.
Becky said that her changes come from her just ‘getting bored’ and wanting to do something different, and advised students to look around for inspiration, such as watching the news.
She said:
“I just get bored. I’m like ugh I did this, I’ve done this, what else do I wanna do? How can I tell different stories?
“If you find it interesting then other people will find it interesting. If you find it stale and effort, then you won’t put as much work into it. So it’s whatever lights you up.
“Then just look. If you want to be an entertainer, go get entertained. Watch movies, watch TV shows, go to concerts, take whatever you see and see how you can use it and put that in your body.
“Watch the news. I dunno, maybe there’s something in there…”
