The new Peacock documentary ‘American Nightmare: Becoming Cody Rhodes’ launched today, and in it, Cody’s time in AEW was covered.
The documentary goes over Cody and the Elite forming All Elite Wrestling in January 2019, with Cody ‘leading a team that created a new wrestling promotion’.
Photos of Cody and the Elite were used in the documentary, as well as footage from Being The Elite of Matt Jackson and Cody Rhodes signing their AEW contracts.
You can watch the clip around AEW’s formation in the video below.
Also in the documentary, Cody addressed his departure from AEW and his return to WWE last year, claiming that he left the company due to a ‘personal issue’.
The clip also saw Triple H discuss Cody’s departure, where he referred to AEW as a ‘secondary promotion’.
Cody Rhodes is set for his third match with Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam in Detroit this Saturday.
The inception of AEW:
“Following that success, Cody led a team that created a new wrestling promotion.
On January 1st 2019, All Elite Wrestling, also known as AEW, was born.”
