Upcoming WWE Championship Match Met With ‘A Lot Of Positivity’ Backstage WWE

An upcoming WWE Championship match has reportedly been met with a “lot of positivity” backstage according to a new report.

On next week’s NXT Roadblock event (March 5), the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships will be defended on the brand for the first time since October 31, 2023, when The Kabuki Warriors defend against NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria & Tatum Paxley.

The match will not only be a homecoming of sorts for both Asuka and Kairi Sane – who both achieved great success on the brand, but also a nice showcase of the NXT’s women’s tag teams.

The female stars on the brand have been without tag gold to aim for since the NXT Women’s Tag Titles were unified with the WWE Women’s Tag Titles on June 23, 2023.

This is part of the reason why the match has reportedly been met with a “lot of positivity” backstage in WWE according to Fightful Select.

According to the report, WWE officials have been pitching the titles to be defended on NXT as far back as when the previously mentioned title unification took place.

It remains to be seen whether the WWE Women’s Tag Titles will be more regularly defended on NXT going forward.

The match will be The Kabuki Warriors’ fourth defence of the titles since beginning their fourth reign as champions on January 26.

In related news, Asuka and Sane’s Damage CTRL teammate Dakota Kai has broken her silence after betraying Bayley on this week’s SmackDown (March 1).
