WWE Considering ‘Shaking Up’ Stomping Grounds Card Amidst Poor Ticket Sales

WWE Stomping Grounds is set to take place this Sunday in Tacoma, Washington. The show is filled with lacklustre rematches, with four of the five bouts announced for the show having already taken place over the last two months.

The match card is as follows:

  • Seth Rollins (c) vs. Baron Corbin – Universal Championship
  • Kofi Kingston (c) vs. Dolph Ziggler – Steel Cage Match – WWE Championship
  • Drew McIntyre vs. Roman Reigns
  • Becky Lynch (c) vs. Lacey Evans – Raw Women’s Championship
  • Bayley (c) vs. Alexa Bliss – Smackdown Women’s Championship

The underwhelming five matches have in fact correlated to poor ticket sales for WWE’s upcoming pay-per-view. Despite the Tacoma Dome being able to hold 23,000 people, the company have only set up for between 10,000-15,000.

Moreover, there are still loads of tickets on sale for the event, as can be seen in the below image. Blue dots indicate an available seat.

However, it is not only wrestling fans and news sites that have noticed the abysmal ticket sales. The ever-reliable WrestleVotes is reporting that WWE is also aware of the issue.

They are also reporting that there has been some talk backstage of “shaking up” the card for Sunday’s show. While no specific examples were provided, one has to presume that WWE is planning to alter some of the more uninspiring matches on the card.

Let’s hope the Universal Championship match between Baron Corbin and Seth Rollins is the one changed on tonight’s Raw, with the “Lone Wolf” replaced with a more exciting opponent for Seth.

Perhaps one way WWE could “shake things up” is to add Bray Wyatt to the card. The former WWE Champion is reportedly in Los Angeles for tonight’s show.
