When CM Punk was terminated from AEW with cause back on September 2 following the investigation into the incident at AEW All In at Wembley Stadium, speculation immediately emerged about Punk potentially returning to WWE.
With Chicago paying host to this year’s Survivor Series, many saw that as the event that Punk would return to the company if it were to happen.
Recently, fans think they have been noticing numerous teases for Punk on television, which included last week’s episode of Raw, when Shinsuke Nakamura hitting Ricochet with a GTS.
WWE sources have said that any references to Punk are purely coincidental, and reports have emerged saying that the two sides are not in discussions, and that WWE rejected the chance to bring back Punk.
However, WWE has drawn major attention to Nakamura’s recent tease, uploading the clip to their Instagram account, alongside a caption saying “Shinsuke hits GTS”.
The video also featured a comment from the USA Network Instagram account, simply saying:
“Best in the world.”
