Real Reason For Top WWE Star Taking Time Off WWE

WWE Intercontinental Champion Gunther revealed he was going to take time off following his defeat of The Miz on the December 18 Raw.

The announcement came in a backstage segment where he criticized Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci for not pulling their weight in Imperium.

Demanding that his team mates remain at WWE Raw to work hard and impress him, Gunther said he was going to take a few weeks off.

The reason for this break has been confirmed by Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter who wrote:

“The reason Gunther said he was taking time off to be refreshed is actually because his wife, the former pro wrestler Jinny, gave birth to a boy on 12/27”

Gunther announced the birth of their first child on December 27, sharing a photo on social media.

At the time of writing, Gunther has been WWE Intercontinental Champion for 566 days.

Triple H recently commented on the champion’s record-breaking reign saying he’s “still getting better every day.”

Gunther was also the longest reigning WWE United Kingdom Champion and was transferred to NXT in January 2022.

He made his main roster debut in April of that year and defeated Ricochet to become WWE Intercontinental Champion on the June 10 episode of SmackDown.

Jinny officially retired from wrestling in January 2023 and had previously been signed to WWE and featured on the NXT UK brand.
