Scrapped Plans For Major Star To Join WWE Hall Of Fame Revealed WWE

Former World Champion Batista (Dave Bautista) has commented on scrapped plans for him to enter the WWE Hall of Fame in 2023.

WWE fans have been waiting a while to see Batista give his Hall of Fame speech. While Batista was officially announced as part of the class of 2020, the Hall of Fame ceremony was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ahead of the postponed ceremony taking place in March 2021, Batista confirmed that he had been removed from the class as previous obligations clashed with the ceremony.

Speaking with Comicbook, Batista was asked what does he see happening first, him joining the WWE Hall of Fame, or James Gunn’s DC cinematic universe.

Batista noted that there have been more talks about his Hall of Fame induction, revealing that there were nixed plans for him to join the class of 2023.

He explained:

“I couldn’t give an honest answer to that and I’m only going to say this because we have had conversations over the years, it would be WWE Hall of Fame.

“I was supposed to go in last year but I was on a film and I just couldn’t travel.

“I was on a film in South Africa and logistically we just couldn’t make it happen.”

Batista had previously revealed in January 2023 that he was set to film in South Africa for My Spy 2, the sequel to his 2020 spy comedy film.

The 2023 Hall of Fame class was ultimately led by Rey Mysterio, an active member of the WWE roster.

After discussing these nixed WWE plans, Batista stated that he hasn’t yet spoken with James Gunn about a possible DC Studios appearance.

Gunn notably directed Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy, which Batista starred in as Drax. James Gunn is now a co-Chairman and co-CEO of DC Studios, and is in the process of establishing DC’s rebooted cinematic universe.

Batista’s next Hollywood project was recently revealed, which you can read more about right here.
