Update On Injured WWE Star’s Status Amid Return Rumors

SmackDown star Dakota Kai has provided clarification on her current status, amid speculation about her WWE in-ring return.

Kai hasn’t wrestled since the May 12, 2023 edition of SmackDown, when she and Bayley unsuccessfully challenged for Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez’ Women’s Tag Team Championship.

Dakota Kai suffered a torn ACL injury during this bout, and has been recovering from surgery since.

With Kai’s recent WWE appearances, it has been heavily speculated that she will soon return to the ring.

Speculation was fuelled by recent social media posts from Bayley, which showed Dakota Kai in full ring gear.

Dakota Kai has now taken to Instagram to reveal why she was in gear in the first place.

Sharing a video from behind the scenes on a WrestleMania XL promo shoot day, Kai noted that she isn’t currently cleared to compete in the post’s caption.

Kai captioned the video:

Kai was a founding member of the Damage CTRL faction, alongside Bayley and IYO SKY in July 2022.

The faction imploded on the February 4 edition of SmackDown, with IYO SKY attacking Bayley alongside newer members Asuka and Kairi Sane, before the Role Model fought them off.

It has now been confirmed that Bayley will challenge for IYO SKY’s WWE Women’s Championship at WrestleMania XL (40).
