An update has emerged on the John Cena Classic in WWE from the legendary star himself following its announcement this year.

Announced at WWE Backlash in May, the John Cena Classic was billed as main roster vs. NXT star matches, with the fans choosing the champion.

A recent report has indicated December 12 as the currently planned date for the John Cena Classic, although a location is yet to be determined.

Speaking at FanExpo Canada, with footage shared on Twitter, Cena shared an update on the event, indicating that “all the details” are there, just not in the public, saying:

“I can’t say nothing right now.

“Normally, so I don’t wanna leave you without an answer; normally, I wanna say ‘we’re figuring out the details’.

“I’ll say this, we have all the details, you just gotta hang in there with me cos they want me to keep it a secret until it’s time to say it.

“But, we got a lot of information that I wanna dump on you, it’s just not going to be today.”

December 12? Isn’t There A WWE PLE On That Day?

August 27 saw an official announcement that WWE was heading to Perth later this year as part of a three-year partnership with the Western Australian Government through Tourism Western Australia.

One event announced for the upcoming tour was Wrestlepalooza: Perth, with that show taking place on December 12, 2026.

The second Wrestlepalooza since WWE brought back the name for the event in September of last year, this will be the first to take place outside of the United States since its inception as an ECW event in the mid-90s.

The 2025 event opened with Brock Lesnar defeating John Cena at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, with the Perth show taking place just under a year after the Leader of the Cenation’s final match at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

At the time of writing, no confirmation has been given that Wrestlepalooza will revolve around the John Cena Classic. There’s also no indication as to how the Classic will be structured, aside from it being a showcase as opposed to a more traditional tournament leading to the final at a Premium Live Event.
