WWE Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan has an interest in playing the role of a ‘final girl’ in a horror movie as she heads to the big screen this year.
Liv Morgan has a prominent role in the upcoming action thriller movie, Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo, directed by Takashi Miike, with a release date of September this year.
During a recent interview with the The Early Bird Special, Morgan was asked about the possibility of stepping into horror movies particularly as a ‘final girl’, to which she responded:
“I feel like that is definitely in the future for me. I’d love to, we’ll see if it happens or not, but that’s definitely something I’d be interested in and hopefully be able to partake in. I guess we’ll see.”

When it comes to horror movies, the ‘final girl’ is the last female survivor standing, overcoming the odds and defeating the bad guy, even if they do return in a sequel. Prime examples include Laurie Strode from Halloween and Sidney Prescott from Scream.
The trope is the counter of the more familiar ‘damsel in distress’ which sees the woman as the one that needs saving by the hero of the piece.
Morgan discussed the skills she was able to transfer from her experience as a WWE star to her time on the set of Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo.
Liv Morgan & Takashi Miike: A Match Made In Horror
Takashi Miike may be directing Morgan in an action movie, but he has a history in the dark side thanks to his Japanese horror back catalog.
The director of One Missed Call, Audition, and Visitor Q, among other J-Horror entries, Miike’s eye for the bizarre, disturbing and shocking has been well-regarded in genre circles, with Ichi The Killer being a key example of the visceral skill the filmmaker brings to his output.
A veritable master of graphic violence, it’s bound to be interesting to see just what Miike does with Morgan in his upcoming movie, with the WWE star commenting on the production and her time in Japan, saying “the WWE audience is gonna see me in a way that I think perhaps they never thought they’d see me.”
While Morgan is committed to her role in WWE, a prominent role in a cult filmmaker’s production could see her receive more opportunities to surprise the fans, and it’s far from a jump to envision the star stepping into the horror genre, potentially getting that ‘final girl’ opportunity.
