A major challenge was laid out on tonight’s WWE Raw as a top star revealed they had been harboring some serious resentments for years.
Finn Balor noted that it was Seth Rollins who took everything from him and changed his career trajectory seven years ago, and now Balor wanted to return the favor.
Balor challenged Rollins to a match for his WWE World Heavyweight Championship at the upcoming premium live event, Money in the Bank, and Rollins took his time in responding.
As the crowd had continued to sing Rollins’ theme song throughout the interaction, Finn had been forced to simply speak over them until Rollins got on the mic and laughed at Balor.
Rollins said that this was the Finn Balor he had been waiting to see for the past seven years, and ‘painted the picture’ for fans who may have not been around back then.
He told Balor that in the subsequent seven years, the difference was that Rollins had gotten better, while Balor had gotten bitter.
Rollins noted that he had done some bad things over the past seven years, but he’s also made memories, history, moments that the fans will never forget and he was able to do that by changing, adapting and becoming the best version of Seth Freakin’ Rollins.
Accepting Balor’s challenge for Money in the Bank, the WWE World Heavyweight Champion delivered one final savage parting shot to Balor, calling him a ‘little bitch’ before leaving the ring.
Earlier in the night, there was some notable tension backstage between the members of the Judgment Day.
After a tense exchange, Damian Priest made his way to the ring to go head to head against Matt Riddle, asking the rest of Judgment Day to stay backstage, which Finn Balor in particular wasn’t happy with.
Last week, Priest had asked Balor to stay backstage for his match against Seth Rollins, but Balor still showed up, resulting in more tension between Priest and Balor, and Balor saying he had a lot of things on his mind tonight.
Damian Priest won his match against Riddle tonight, meaning he joins Santos Escobar, LA Knight, Butch, Shinsuke Nakamura and Ricochet in this year’s men’s Money in the Bank ladder match.
Elsewhere on the show, another member of Judgment Day (Rhea Ripley) was granted not only a brand new Championship belt but the title has a new name.
