WWE Star Comments On Recent Referee Controversy WWE

WWE star Mustafa Ali has commented on the controversy he caused as a special guest referee on last night’s June 20 episode of NXT.

The show kicked off with NXT North American Champion Wes Lee defending the title against Tyler Bate with the aforementioned Ali as the official.

Even in the first few minutes of the match, Ali caused some controversy with his purposely slow and fast counting, which didn’t seem be favoring either Lee or Bate.

Fast forward to the finish of the match, and Ali had a role to play in that too – instead of counting Wes Lee out to end the match, he slapped Lee in face to motivate him to get back in the ring.

He also then slapped Bate in the face to motivate him as well, although the distraction actually cost Bate the match.

In a post-match interview, Ali explained that his antics throughout were just an attempt to get the best out of both men, and he thinks he did a pretty good job.

He also tweeted:

“Personally, I thought I did great #WWENXT”

Ali is one of the many main roster stars to pop up in NXT recently as WWE attempts to shift back towards making it more of a ‘third brand’.

Two of the biggest of those names are Seth Rollins and Finn Balor, who are set for a WWE World Heavyweight Championship match at Money in the Bank.

Find out what played out between Rollins and Balor on NXT last night at this link.
