Former NXT North American Champion Carmelo Hayes has spoken about a possible main roster alliance with Bobby Lashley.
With Bobby Lashley and the Street Profits forming a faction on WWE SmackDown, a recent interview with Vibe saw Hayes discuss the possibility of joining a ‘reformed Hurt Business’.
Hayes has previously reacted to the suggestion following Lashley’s comments on the September 22 episode of WWE SmackDown.
Reflecting on the possibility in the interview, Hayes said:
“Shoot, that’d be cool. Right now I’m so focused on what I got going on here in NXT.
“It’s going to take a lot more than just showing up and dapping me up to get me over there.
“I’m not thirsty for any membership. If they want me, they can holler at me and we can talk business.
“Respect to them [,though,] because they’re my brothers for real.”
Having held the NXT North American Championship on two occasions, Hayes was also asked the difference between being a WWE superstar and a WWE champion, saying:
“It’’s just living up to that expectation of you’re the big headline name that’s going to make or break [a] PLE.
“If it doesn’t sell out, who they blaming? They’re blaming me. If the match doesn’t deliver to people’s expectations, they’re blaming me as champion.
“It’s a lot of pressures. I saw a lot of people [who were] very critical of Bron. Best way I can put it, it puts a microscope on everything that you do.”
Hurt Business was led by MVP and Lashley, with Shelton Benjamin and Cedric Alexander among their number.
A reunion for the stable has been teased, however, Benjamin was released in September 2023 and has recently posted about his free agency.
