Huge Update On WWE Plans For Roman Reigns Title Reign WWE

A big update has emerged on WWE plans for Roman Reigns’ Undisputed WWE Universal Championship reign.

Reigns most recently defended the title at Clash At The Castle, defeating Drew McIntyre with an assist from Solo Sikoa to retain the gold.

Prior to the event, many had predicted that McIntyre was going to be the star to dethrone Reigns, ending his lengthy title run, following a previous report that WWE had discussed plans for Reigns to drop the championship.

Per WrestlingNews.co, a source familiar with the creative process told them that there are still no plans for Reigns to lose the title this year. The report noted that when Reigns won the Universal Championship in August 2020, the plan was for him to be the champion for a match against The Rock.

Triple H is reportedly moving forward with the initial plan for Reigns’ title reign, with the idea for Reigns to walk into WrestleMania 39 as champion.

The report also revealed that Vince McMahon’s original plans called for Reigns to retain against The Rock at WrestleMania, before becoming the company’s top babyface. It reportedly isn’t clear whether the plan is still for Reigns to retain.

As previously reported, Roman Reigns vs The Rock is currently planned for WrestleMania 39 in April 2023, but only if The Rock’s schedule allows for a wrestling return.
